Project Management

Who is a Project Manager?

A project manager is the person responsible for taking a project from idea to delivery. They define the goal, build the plan, lead the team and make sure the work finishes on time, within budget and to the quality the client expects. Project managers work in tech companies, agencies, banks, NGOs and start-ups, and the skill applies to almost every industry.

What does a Project Manager do?

  • Define the project goal, scope and success measures with clients and stakeholders
  • Break the work into tasks, timelines and milestones
  • Assign responsibilities and keep the team organised and motivated
  • Run Agile routines such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups and reviews
  • Track progress, budgets and risks, and fix problems early
  • Report to clients and leaders, and record lessons for the next project
