Who is a Software Developer?

A software developer designs, writes and maintains the programs people use every day, from mobile apps and web platforms to business systems. They solve problems with code, work in teams and turn ideas into reliable products.

What does a Software Developer do?

  • Understand requirements and plan how the software should work
  • Write clean, readable code in one or more programming languages
  • Design the structure of the software so it can grow and be maintained
  • Test and debug code to find and fix problems
  • Use version control and collaborate with other developers
  • Improve and update software after it is released
